The biggest news for this week: I finally got a job! I'm very excited. I'll get to do some graphic design and writing, on top of some other duties, which is really all I wanted. So I can't wait to start that.
Other goings on: Went to go see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with some people. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get to dress up and go to the midnight premiere like I have for every other premiere since I started attending them, but we went the next day and I LOVED IT. The sixth book was definitely not one of my favorites -- in truth, I found it somewhat anticlimactic -- but I think the movie is one of my favorite in the franchise. I was struck by how much better the actors had gotten since the previous movies, and no one was ridiculously overdramatic, as was one of my complaints of the previous movies. I need to rewatch them all, because I can't seem to remember most of what happened in movies 2-6. I've seen the first one so many times (mainly as Wizard People) that I remember pretty much everything about it.
Also went to this month's meeting of the book club, where we discussed this really awesome, demented book, The Hunger Games. It was very Brave New World meets Lord of the Flies meets And Then There Were None. If you're into demented, futuristic books, you'll love it. I'm very much enjoying this group of people. Then, today I went grocery shopping and ran into one of the ladies, and I felt bad because I didn't know what to say to her.
Other events of the weekend: Went to visit my grandparents and see their new house, went shopping at IKEA and then to dinner with Matt's parents (WHY have I never been in an IKEA before?! I love IKEA!), and had the first power outage during a major thunderstorm. I would say that I really hope my car isn't hail damaged, but a couple dings doesn't make much difference to the overall appearance of my poor banged-up Blaine.
